2022 Dranesville Open

Eligibility. The Tournament is open to any bowler who will be 19 or younger as of August 5, 2022, and is not a professional bowler.

Divisions. The 2022 Dranesville Open is a singles scratch event with separate divisions for boys and girls.

Format. Participants will bowl six games of play, with bowlers switching pairs after two games. This event will use a Challenge pattern. Check-in for the tournament begins at 11:30AM, and bowling begins at 1:00PM.

The top three boys and top three girls will advance to the playoff round based on total pinfall. Playoff participants will bowl four games with boys and girls swapping pairs after two games. The top girl and top boy are each guaranteed a $500 SMART scholarship and earn entries into the 2022 Teen Masters North American Championships based on total pinfall of the qualifying and playoff rounds.

Should the winning girl or boy be unable to participate in the Championships or already possess an entry into the Championships, the entry will be awarded to the next eligible bowler. The Championships entries are not transferable and have no cash value.

Fees. Entry fees will be broken down as follows:

Scholarship Fund: $50.00 per bowler / Lineage: $24.00 per bowler / Expenses: $6.00 per bowler

Scholarships. Scholarship funds will be returned 100% with one prize for every six entries. Prize money will be distributed to SMART accounts within 30 days after the close of the tournament (SMART Account #13580).

Equipment. Each bowler will be allowed three bowling balls during competition play. If a bowling ball is damaged beyond use (at the discretion of the Tournament Director), a fourth bowling ball may be used as a substitute. The substitute bowling ball must be kept out of the playing area until directed by the tournament staff.

Dress Code. With enhanced competition comes enhanced dress & conduct guidelines. Collared shirt/jersey is required. Slacks, khakis, skirts/skorts are allowed. Skirts must be at least fingertip length. Denim, shorts, sweats, spandex, yoga pants, headgear, sunglasses, and electronics are prohibited.
